Chuck Root, Coordinator of the Community Employment Office is proud to serve as the WNY Coordinator of Disability Mentoring Day. The Mission of DMD is to promote career exploration and increase employment opportunities for students & job seekers with disabilities through one-on-one job shadowing and group visits to public and private employers. Last year's Mentoring Day was a great success with over 150 mentees and 25 employers participating. If you are a WNY employer and would like to be a mentor to an individual for a day, a week or on-going, please contact Chuck Root 716-856-8139 X3179. Students who wish the mentoring experience should contact their teachers who will then contact Chuck. To sign up as a mentor or mentee, go to the home page and click on Disability Mentoring Day.
The United Cerebral Palsy Associations of New York State recently named the
Community Employment Office For its work in increasing the employment opportunities of Individuals with Disabilities. Chuck Root, the CEO Project Coordinator, accepted the award on behalf of the member agencies and the 100's of employers who have placed individuals with disabilities in meaningful jobs at their businesses.
